Trent University invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time tenure track position in the School of Environment (TSE) in Hydrology. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will commence July 1st, 2022 or shortly thereafter. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
Applicants should have earned a PhD degree in physical geography, earth science or environmental science, with a focus on surface or groundwater systems. We are flexible regarding area of specialization; however, fields of particular interest include agricultural water use, waterclimate interactions, hydrological and biogeochemical modelling, ecohydrology, hydrogeology and hydrometeorology. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and extend the School of Environment’s existing strengths. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue an innovative, externally funded research program; contribute to matters of departmental and institutional governance; and support Trent’s commitment to excellence in undergraduate education. We also seek candidates whose research, teaching and service demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
The TSE offers 14 undergraduate degrees serving more than 700 majors in fields as diverse as Geography, Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems, Water Science, Environmental Geoscience and Climate Change Science and Policy. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses that cross these disciplines and will conduct research that is recognized at regional, national and international levels. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
