This position is located at Trent’s Peterborough Campus and is subject to final budgetary approval. The current salary grid can be found in the collective agreement with the Trent University Faculty Association.

A PhD degree in environmental studies or a related field is required. The ideal candidate will have interdisciplinary expertise in environmental studies & natural resource management, with research and teaching strengths that complement focal areas and programming within the TSE (see https://www.trentu.ca/environment/). We expect the candidate to pursue an innovative, externally funded, and policy-relevant research agenda; contribute to School and university governance; and support Trent’s commitment to teaching excellence.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collegial group of faculty, students, and community partners. We seek candidates who can collaborate across the university and with external partners in both their research and teaching activities. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in research, teaching and service is required.

Applications should be sent in PDF format and include (1) a letter of application (no more than two pages); (2) a curriculum vitae; (3) a statement discussing your research plans, your teaching approach and experience, your approach working with community and professional partners, and your approach to equity, diversity and inclusion (no more than four pages); and (4) the names and contact information for three references to tse@trentu.ca (Attn: Stephen Hill). Applicants may also submit a self-identification form as part of their application package. Review of applications will begin on January 30, 2024, and will continue until a candidate is selected. For inquiries about this position, please contact Dr. Stephen Hill, Director of the School of the Environment.

Trent University is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive campus community. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority. Preference will be given to candidates from underrepresented groups including women, Indigenous People (First Nations, Inuit and Métis), persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities or racialized groups and LGBTQ2+ people.

Trent University offers accommodation for applicants with disabilities in its recruitment processes. If you require accommodation during the recruitment process or require an accessible version of a document/publication, please contact stephenhill@trentu.ca.
